Please help me improve. I love honest constructive critiques.

Daemon and Sprite.
An unlikely sight.
A companion whose shadows swallow the light.
A friend whose glow cancels the night.
Inseparable, as two halves might.
Searching for adventure, their own story they write.
Two creatures, of black and white.
A friendship, unbroken, through any plight.
Their names echo on as Wicker and Brite.

Edit:
Adjusted values.

A little thing I whipped up really late yesterday evening, and finished this morning, as an attempt to build up my concept art style. I originally drew it grayscale, then decided to color it as a separate version. I'm fond of both, so I decided to upload it like this. These two characters just randomly popped in my head while I was doing some things around the house and I liked the concept, so you'll definitely be seeing more of these two. I'd like to draw more concept art kinda stuff like this. I need to work on environments and the like. This will probably turn into a little personal project series.

More Wicker and Brite

The two are quite cute, I like them! Especially Wicker's whimsical design. The white spots are eyecatching.
When painting landscapes, you may want to watch out for higher contrast between the background and foreground (where Wicker and Brite are walking), to separate them. That makes it easier for the eye to understand what's going on in your painting. Right now, both are very much the same, value wise. In many cases (except if one is looking at a bright light source), the background tends to be lighter and shifted toward the blue spectrum, because there is more air between the background and the viewer, then between foreground and viewer. Since your sky has a yellowish-olive tone, you'd want to shift the colors into that direction, instead of blue. The colours are already fine the way they are here, that's just to make the information complete (:

Wow, I really like the design of the environment. It kinda gives you that feeling whenever you go a forest and it's foggy out.

Well light and darkness are one and the same. You can't have one without the other and to kill one is to kill the other in the process. A complex balance of push and pull, give and take, twists and turns. They depend on another to exist and to continue to exist even if they, caught in an eternal feud.

The shadows are not evil, and the light is not holy nor good. They are both neutral in nature. Only given a "good" and "evil" aspect by those that fail to see what they are for what they are.

Personally, I like both versions. The style fits and flows well with the art piece.

I love how philosophical you get about this kind of stuff. It makes for a fun read. ^^ But actually, yes, if you were to kill either of these two, the other will be sure to die with it.

Thank you! I feel the same way. It's nice when that works out. ^^

I can't help it sometimes. :shrugs: Those moments are a hit and miss.

Indeed. I like how the style fits with this drawing-paint thing.

Though---- on Wicker [I think thats the black ones name] is taht another set of arms behind his front arms?? Or some strange extension.

Thanks again!

Theyre another set of arms. He has three sets of arms.

But I guess I hit the nail on the head when I do have them.

Welcomed!

Yeah, it's like super hard to see that.

Hehe.

Oh. Well I shrunk down the images from real size. That could be a reason. But they're there. sta.sh/01f4gliri9w2 You can see the full versions on my portfolio website.

Hm, the back arms seem kinda useless? Then again, that's just me. They look like a deformity.

He uses them to carry things primarily. Also useful for tunneling I suppose.
